My Journey with BTS: A New Generation of K-pop Stardom
Hey there! I’m excited to share my personal journey with K-pop and my favorite group, BTS. My experience with them is quite unique and filled with moments that still resonate with me to this day.
The Early Discovery: BTS in 2017
My introduction to BTS came indirectly through a friend in 2017. We were in school, and she played the music video for BTS’s Blood Sweat and Tears. Little did I know, that would be the spark that ignited my love for the group. From that moment on, I became curious about the lyrics and the members.
From Curiocity to ARMY
When I first watched BTS perform during a New Year’s show in 2017, I was instantly captivated by their unique style and energy. Their dynamic lyrics and choreography were unlike anything I had seen or heard before. The visuals and the way the members interacted with the audience were simply mesmerizing. I found their positive and non-explicit approach very appealing, and from then on, I started following them closely.
I officially became an ARMY (Army, also known as the fan group of BTS) in February 2021, though I had been fascinated with them since 2018. This journey has taught me a lot about consistency, dedication, and the power of community. The camaraderie among ARMY members is truly remarkable, making the experience even more special.
The Rise of BTS: 2019 and Beyond
In 2019, I got to know a bit more about BTS when they released their hit song Boy With Luv. I distinctly remember hearing it and thinking it was catchy and cute, but it wasn’t until 2020 that I ramped up my efforts to learn more about them. The song Dynamite, which became a massive hit internationally, was the turning point for me. From then on, I was officially a zealot!
Since then, I’ve listened to every new release from BTS and have continued to explore more of their music. Some of my favorite songs include Fake Love and Permission to Dance. While I may not always fully grasp the humor, I appreciate their creativity and musical talents. I’ve even watched some of their V-Log live shows to get a deeper insight into their lives.
The Evolution of K-pop
My love for K-pop wasn’t limited to BTS alone. In fact, my journey with K-pop as a whole dates back to my junior high school days, around 2008-2009. Back then, Super Junior and Girls Generation were at the pinnacle of popularity. However, it wasn’t until June 2017 that I began following K-pop more earnestly.
My journey with BTS coincided with the band’s rise to global fame. I wasn’t a huge fan of them at first; I was just neutral. But as their popularity surged, I started to change my stance and become more enthusiastic. I began supporting not just BTS but other talented groups as well, like Wanna One.
As I delve deeper into K-pop, I realize how much it has evolved. BTS is just one part of this vibrant and dynamic music scene. I’m excited to see where their journey and the K-pop genre as a whole take us in the future.
Conclusion
Looking back, it’s remarkable how a single music video can change someone’s life. BTS and K-pop have played a significant role in my personal growth and self-discovery. With each new release and performance, I’m more in love with them than ever before. Here’s to many more years of music, memories, and fandom!
